About Me
Hi! I’m Daniel, and I’m the owner of this website. You needed to be told that, right? Here’s a little bit more about me that you might not know.
I was born in Mt Alvernia Hospital in Singapore in 1979, and was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church not long after. Oddly enough, I’ve never studied in a Catholic school before.
I entered Cedar Primary School (it’s co-ed) in 1986, and from 1992-95, I was in Beatty Secondary School. 1996/97 found me in Anderson Junior College, after which I spent the majority of my National Service in Seletar Camp. I obtained my Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) from the National University of Singapore in 2003, and found myself without a place to belong.
A year of discernment helped me to discover my gift of writing, which I am now actively using in my job as a staff writer (since 2005) in Catholic News, the official newspaper of the Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore.
Starting in 2001, I journeyed towards the priesthood for about four years, exploring the diocesan priesthood, and the Franciscan and Jesuit spiritualities, before deciding that I was not called to the priesthood. I am now happily engaged to my fiancee, Stella, and hope to get married to her in 2010.
I enjoy reading, writing, playing video games on my PlayStation 2, cycling, and spending time with Stella. In my free time and when the inspiration hits me, I write books. Otherwise, I blog.
I am an amateur photographer with a powerful camera (comes with the job).
I enjoy listening to video game soundtracks (the ones I’ve played, of course), and movie soundtracks (the ones I’ve watched, of course). I also listen to Evanescence, Corrinne May, and Savage Garden (but they’re no longer around). I am a closet ‘beng’ with a not-so-secret liking for dance music.
I like watching lightning in a storm, and playing in the rain (not when it’s storming). I like playing with cats and dog. Just one dog - Stella’s dog.
