Steven Su

Steve was born and raised in New York City and has been residing in Hong Kong since 2006. He has lived the majority of his life as a non-believer constantly striving after goals which offered only fleeting satisfaction. In 2011, Steve felt a sense of calling from God leading him to attend Sunday service at a nearby church. Once he started going, Sunday mornings became the highlight of the week. He enrolled in an Alpha course and joined other fellowship and bible studies groups. After which, he finally understood what it meant to have a relationship with God – which has provided lasting satisfaction over anything he has ever experienced. Steve committed his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized in March 2013.

Currently taking a break from the finance industry, Steve is taking the opportunity to spend time with his wife and two boys, travel and study the bible. He’s opening himself to truly understand God’s plans for him and prays that he will have the strength and courage to act on God’s will. At the suggestion of his friend Sharon Soo, Steve thinks writing for Oxygen will help him continue to better develop his relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

  1. Stephen,

Like you, my father emigrated from Italy in the early 1900s when people were starving. He had to quit school in the 7th grade to help the family financially. Needless to say, without an education, he was a laborer who broke his back for menial wages. He constantly impressed upon me the need to get a good education and use my brain and not break my body for sustenance. I went on and received a MS in nursing. I currently work as a nurse practitioner in a university in Cambridge MA. I thank God for his impressions he made through my dad. Your article hit home.

God bless you and your family this Christmas season.

  2. Steven,

Thank you for introducing me to this blog – I look forward to reading more of your devotions and sharing more inspirations over the years. As mentioned, I should be back in Hong Kong two Sundays this July, then back again late August. Have a great summer, and see you all again soon!

  3. Dear Debbie,

Your reflection today (Oct 10) was so beautifully put on what is enough for us – the love of Jesus. Also it resonated well with me on friendships and realised something profound on approval, indeed I am consciously moving away for the need for the approval of others.

I have read many of your reflections in the past well on Oxygen and wanted to let you know, they are not only immaculately articulated in words but are Spirit led. Your reflections usually capture the essence of the word and also the relational aspects to it. I thank the Lord for you and I am blessed to serve with you in this ministry.
